David Depei Xi

David Depei Xi (pronounced David ‘C’), R. TCMP, R. Ac.,  has both taught and practiced acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine around the world. He has over 30 years of experience in clinical practice, research and academic settings.

Xi received his degree in Chinese Medicine from the Shanghai Career Medical College. He then received an advanced degree including an M.Sc. in Acupuncture from the Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medical University. Xi has completed the requirements for his Ph.D. (ABD) in Physiology from Nippon University in Japan. Xi also has a degree in medicine (MD) from China.

Xi worked for 12 years in the Yueyang Hospital, Shanghai University of TCM, where he was involved in all aspects of the medical clinic, teaching undergraduates and international students, and research in immunology, physiology, and gynecology (including infertility).

During his tenure at Yueyang Hospital, he specialized in treating gynecological conditions such as irregular menstrual cycles and infertility, with rotations in other areas of medicine including pain and pain management, sports injuries, rheumatoid arthritis and neurological diseases.

Xi has many published studies in various traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture journals. Among his works include, “Acupuncture procedures in treating rheumatoid arthritis”, and “Acupuncture-facilitated ovulation – 50 clinical studies”, which were selected and honoured at the “The Annual Conference of Acupuncture Studies”, and “The World Traditional Chinese Medicine Conference” respectively. Both studies received prestigious awards of excellence.

Xi was invited to Indonesia to teach local acupuncture doctors, and direct the treatment of various complex medical conditions. Among Xi’s many patients was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. Xi was recognized and published in the local newspaper dedicated to the treatments he provided while in Indonesia.

Xi spent time working in Japan where he treated many Olympic Judo, Sumo and marathon athletes. Simultaneously he was involved in research to improve physical health by using traditional Chinese medicine. He was also invited by various health clubs to provide treatments using both traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture for hormone level adjustments (which include infertility and menopause), and for cosmetology and weight loss.

Xi is a member of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO).

Xi has lived TCM for his whole life; Xi's father is a world-renowned Doctor of traditional Chinese with many published textbooks on TCM in use in universities today. Xi is a member of the Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Association of Canada. Xi is pleased to be working with Total Wellness Centre, where he brings his wealth of knowledge and experience, along with his passion for treating people.
